August 18th: Bryce Canyon National Park, UT to Tropic, UT or … Thinking about the people in Belgium

The bad spirits had left my tent and I slept through the night. What a relief! No rush this morning putting the tent back in the bags and going to breakfast for coffee and a banana nut muffin. Excellent! This ride was a blast: not far to Tropic – it’s all the way downhill also and it’s a rapid one! I took a few pictures of the remaining smoke racing down but I didn’t want to spoil the fun: I have to climb this thing in a couple of days again!

It’s a 8 mile ride to Tropic and the colors change from pink to green again. The Aquarius plateau and the valley below Bryce was even worse: the smoke had settled here. But at least I could sit in a cabin. Just in time before a thunderstorm rolled in.

Computer on – check FB and holy moly: Pukkelpop disaster! Jana and boyfriend and some other people I know were there. I phoned my sister and got good news about Jana. The other friends I had to check via FB and the rest of the day I looked on the web to see if I got more news. Never ever underestimate the weather! I feel sorry for the people who lost dear ones and I hope the injured people will make it! All afternoon and evening my thoughts were in Belgium!
