Decided I need some ducted tape in case I have another big problem with a tire. I bought some cycling out of Payson. Big stores like Walmart are not on the menu today. Today I cycled on the frontage road, which is a road next to I-15. Well, not exactly next to… it probably used the be the road before the Interstate got here (maybe). Santaquin is the last town of the Utah valley. As the Salt Lake Valley, the terrain gets a bit higher before going over to the next valley: central Utah. Right out of Santaquin apple trees are growing.
Past the gas station at South Santaquin (a new town!) the road gets covered with grasshoppers.
They just sit there on the road, waiting for a car to run them over. When I go by, they just hop up – one got on my foot, one got on my bicycle bag and some jump as high as my shoulder which make me close my mouth! Just in case! What's that? Here the cows are striped.
On a downhill I smell the wood being used for the rails: it reminds me of my days as a teenager when on Sundays we went boating with the scouts (wood and tar!).
A few miles further a new smell hits my nose: lavender. Young Living has farms in Idaho, Utah, France and some South American country. The smell is just great!
The burger place in Mona seemed too busy to stop: there were 2 persons waiting there, while normally nobody is there! I just keep the legs going and after a short while I reach Nephi. My eyes have been on the road a long time – looking for debris which could get into my tires. I’m debating about ordering a new tire … which should be send to me in Torrey or Richfield. I noticed a sign of “Shoulder work” across Lisa’s café! (thinking about my niece!).
Sometimes I wish the sign would say: “Neck work”…that seems like a helpful thing for the moment! Guess my fingers will have to do the work.
