Breakfast outside on the porch in the sun…life can be soooooo tranquil – no hurry!
We had a visit of some big fat guy..
Our road takes us to higher elevation and we drive from red sandstone to white buttes.
After riding through the 1 mile long tunnel we park the car and get out for another hike in the park: Canyon Overlook Trail. Deep small canyons and some long drop-offs in the beginning, maidenhair ferns, cacti and other plants lead us to a phenomenal viewpoint of the lower Zion Canyon.
The ride to the East gate of the park is one of my favorite bicycle routes – seeing this in a car is not really the same. We ate today’s lunch in the Soup Town Café of Orderville. The place was very busy but there was a Dutch copy of the Book of Mormons … just had a peak in it! From there US 89 North brought us to Red Canyon. A small thunderstorm crept up the red hills, but we still took time to look around this place.
It rained pretty hard when we arrived at Bryce National Park. We all got settled into the cabin close to the rim. Before having dinner, we did manage to take a quick look on the rim. My sister’s mouth just dropped open from amazement! This place is a must see! The domes even inspired me at dinner where chicken and excellent mashed potatoes and string beans made me think of some extraterrestrial monster.
